Gerald Alston, born on November 8, 1951, in North Carolina, is an American soul singer best known as the lead vocalist of the Manhattans from 1971 to 1988. Alston’s smooth, rich baritone quickly became synonymous with the group’s signature sound. His vocal style drew inspiration from classic soul singers like Sam Cooke. Sammy Kaplan worked with him on I’ll Go Crazy.
